legion-3

WISHEK (NewsDakota)- It was a good, old-fashioned pitchers’ duel on Tuesday afternoon in Wishek, and for Post 25, Tate Wolsky was just a little bit better.

The incoming senior tossed a 105-pitch complete game, allowing an unearned run on five hits while striking out nine as Carrington won 2-1 over Linton-Ashley-Wishek for their first win of the summer.

Post 25 (1-1) scored both runs in the top of the first as Josh Bickett led off with a bunt single and Jacob Boeshans walked.  Max Whitman then delivered a run-scoring single that plated Bickett and Kyle Johnson followed with one of his own, plating Boeshans, and it was 2-0.

And that is how it stayed with Parker Salwei (CG, 9 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 5 K) working out of several jams for the Rattlers (3-9-1), but Wolsky did not allow a run until there were two out in the seventh inning when a line drive tipped off the glove of Taylen Mehring, allowing Caleb Kosiak to score.  But Wolsky retired Kelby Opsahl on a soft popup to short to end the game.

The same two teams will meet in Carrington on Thursday with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal and the KDAK The Cardinal YouTube channel beginning at 4:45pm.
