
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Barnes County Emergency Management has released where an Emergency Storm Shelter can be located in Valley City.
In preparation for another round of potential severe weather, the Barnes County Emergency Management Department has designated an official storm shelter location available to Barnes County residents living in trailer homes, staying in campers, or no basement to seek safety from dangerous conditions including tornadoes.
The storm shelter is located at: Connect Church 320 Central Ave S Valley City, ND 58072
The shelter will be opened when the National Weather Services issues a Tornado Watch and will remain open as long as hazardous weather conditions persist. Residents are encouraged to arrive prepared and bring essential items, such as: Medications & personal hygiene items. Snacks & water. Comfort items like blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals. “This shelter will be a critical resource for our community during times of extreme weather,” said Jessica Jenrich, Barnes County Emergency Manager. “We urge residents without safe shelter at home to take advantage of this facility to protect themselves and their families.”
