legion-3

CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- After eleven months, Carrington’s varsity baseball team were able to play at home in their legion season after playing exclusively on the road during the spring.

But Linton-Ashley-Wishek spoiled the party.

The Rattlers jumped out to an 8-0 second inning lead en route to a 12-5 win over Post 25 on Thursday afternoon in the Central City.

It started immediately as Justin Bosch walked then Berkley Frantz, who finished a triple shy of the cycle, doubled.  Back-to-back errors meant the Rattlers (4-9-1) led 3-0.  Carrington (1-2) would threaten in the home half but eventually stranded the first two of fifteen baserunners left on base for the game.

In the second, LAW scored five times off Post 25 starter Kyle Johnson, and while Carrington would score three in the third to close within 8-3, that was as close as the game would get.

Evan Johnson, Parker Bickett, and Taylen Mehring each had two hits for Post 25 in the loss.

Carrington returns to play on Wednesday, July 9 at home against Edgeley with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal and the KDAK The Cardinal YouTube channel beginning at 4:45pm.
