
BARNES COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Barnes County man was arrested after reportedly threatening to shoot a man.
According to court documents, law enforcement was called to the scene in Oriska, North Dakota after a woman called police, saying that a man had threatened to shoot her ex-husband in the face. When they arrived on scene, the caller said it all started when she asked the suspect, identified as William Smith, if he was on drugs. She told police that he repeatedly threatened to shoot her ex husband in the head.
The victim’s ex husband arrived on scene and said he wanted to press charges after being told about the threats allegedly made by Smith. During the investigation, the officers were told that Smith had been pulled over by Valley City Police and was arrested for DUI. Officer also say they found drug paraphernalia for marijuana in his vehicle.
Court documents say they attempted to speak with Smith at the Barnes County Corrections Center, but he wasn’t fully cooperative. He told them he was assaulted by the woman who called and that he had injuries from her. He denied threatening to shoot the ex husband, instead saying that he threatened to punch him in the face.
Smith is facing multiple charges, including terrorizing, felonious restraint, theft, two APC charges, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
