GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The League of Women Voters of North Dakota (LWVND) is excited to announce the
formation of the LWV Greater Grand Forks, serving both sides of the river—Grand Forks and East Grand Forks as well as the surrounding areas.
The League of Women Voters of Greater Grand Forks grew out of conversations among Grand Forks residents who identified a need to empower voters, defend democracy, increase participation, and build community.
“Voting is an essential part of American citizenship,” said Miranda Nechepurenko, LWV Greater Grand Forks president. “Our Grand Forks group is passionate about making sure that everyone, including students, seniors, parents, farmers, and regular working people, know their options for voting and can easily find information about the candidates to make informed choices.”
“We’re thrilled to have a Greater Grand Forks chapter with leaders who are passionate about nonpartisan voter engagement,” said Barbara Headrick, LWVND president. “Our mission of empowering voters and defending democracy is resonating with North Dakotans across the state. This is the second new chapter we’ve launched in the last two years.”
LWV Greater Grand Forks members voted to form an official League chapter in April 2025 and were recognized by the League of Women Voters of the US in June 2025.The newly elected chapter officers are Miranda Nechepurenko, president; Jane Croeker, vice president; Kaye Carlson, treasurer; and Jordyn Keenan, secretary. Membership is open to anyone of any gender, age 16 years or older.
The next meeting of the LWV Greater Grand Forks will be Tuesday, July 29 at 5:30pm at the East Grand Forks Campbell Library, and the group will be celebrating their official chapter recognition. All are welcome to attend. For more information or to join the LWV Greater Grand Forks, email lwvggf@gmail.com or visit lwvnd.org/ggf.
