JD, John Denis Northridge, 80, of Valley City, ND, died Thursday, July 10, 2025, at CHI MercyHospital. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Epworth United Methodist
Church at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
JD was born on May 13, 1945, to John Wilbur and Ruby (Shelby) Northridge in Fargo, ND.
He attended school at Grand Prairie and graduated in 1963 from College High in Valley City. He
joined the U.S. Army after graduation and served as a military police officer. Upon his discharge, he
returned to Valley City. He married Judith Christ on January 21, 1970. Together, they made their
home in Valley City, where they raised their four children. JD worked as a lineman, a trucker, and
later began working at Enterprise Sales, where he was employed for many years. After sustaining an
injury in 1989, he helped out on Hovey Molstad farm until 2014.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, and tinkering. JD loved spending time with his grandchildren and
helping his children. He was always lending a hand to others and teaching valuable life skills.
JD is survived by his son, Benjamin Northridge of Valley City; his daughters, Lori Northridge of
Fargo, ND, and Melissa (Michael) Earl of Rosholt, SD; and his grandchildren: Marc Northridge,
Tamara Clapper, Joshua Steidl, Andrew Sherman, Alexander Clapper, Michael Lunde, Jared
Northridge, Anthony Clapper, Adam Lunde, and Hallie Parker. Great-grandchildren: Lillian Steidl,
Nova Steidl, Colton Northridge, Buckley Northridge, Thea Snively, Eleanor Davis, Edalynn Davis,
Tyson Northridge, Cassandra Northridge, Savannah Northridge, Alexander Clapper Jr., Kianna
Fretheim, Harmonie Clapper, Isabell Clapper, Eli Barker, Easton Barker, and Edison Sherman; as
well as a niece, Kersti Cannon, and a nephew, Brad Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Sherie Lunde; sister, Donna Bergh; and
nephew, Craig Hanson.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel in Valley City.
