OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Water Education Foundation’s 2025 Water Tour is featuring irrigation innovation and research on Tuesday, July 15 in Oakes. This one-day event will showcase irrigation use in crop and animal agriculture production. Six Oakes area farms will be highlighted on the tour, including Steve Hansen’s which is a test site for Whitewater, a grower driven project of the National Science Foundation AgTech Engine in North Dakota.
Whitewater utilizes technology from Aperture, a data-to-service company, which includes multi-source satellite data inputs, advanced hydrology modeling, and artificial intelligence for detailed water analytics. Insights from the platform inform Agriculture producers using it to make in-field decisions regarding planting times and irrigation application.
Whitewater is a partnership between Steve Hansen, Kyle Courtney, Pat Roney, Aperture Space, North Dakota State University Research and Technology Park, CropX, AgTegra Cooperative, Grand Farm, Hoffman Irrigation Inc., and National Science Foundation AgTech Engine in North Dakota.
Registration is required for the tour and there is a $30 fee which includes lunch and transportation from Oakes to all stops on the Innovative Irrigation in Oakes Tour. Registration and tour information is available at https://ndwater.org/events/oakes2025/ or by calling Julie Ellingson at 701.223.8332.
