CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- A remarkable era in Carrington has come to a close.

Wayne Shipman, who oversaw the launching of Cardinal baseball in the early 2000s, announced his retirement on Thursday after over twenty seasons at the helm.  The news comes two months after associate HC Rick Christianson also announced his retirement.

Shipman led Carrington to seven state tournaments, including five consecutive from 2015-2019, and developed several collegiate players, including his sons Jayden and Grady.
