DETROIT LAKES, MN (NewsDakota)- When mired in a tough slump, teams must find alternative ways to have success. And on Saturday, the Jamestown Eagles got their wind sprints in.
Behind a season-high thirteen stolen bases, including five from Thomas Newman, Jamestown steamrolled West St. Paul, MN 13-5 as part of the Detroit Lakes Water Carnival Tournament at Washington Park in Detroit Lakes.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first, the Eagles (12-25) responded by scoring five times, including a Jaxon Kolpin RBI single to take a lead they would not relinquish. Jamestown added on in the second when two runs scored on an error for a 7-2 lead. In the third, more of the same as Hudson Rode tripled home a pair and later scored to make it 10-2.
Overall, the Eagles got three RBI from Bennett Goehner and two RBI from Rode. Newman was 1-for-1 with five stolen bases and three runs scored.
Jamestown concludes the Detroit Lakes Water Carnival Tournament on Sunday at 10:30am against Anoka, MN.
