JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -St. John’s Academy, the first boarding school in North Dakota and originally an all-girls institution, is opening its doors to the community for an All-Alumni Reunion and Open House this Saturday, July 26th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the school. While alumni are especially encouraged to attend, the event is also open to friends of alumni and the general public.

The Academy is eager to welcome back familiar faces and hear stories from its rich history. “We have a lot of 4th and 5th Generation families,” said Sarah Sankey, Marketing Director, highlighting the deep roots many families have with the institution. Attendees will have the chance to explore a vast collection of memorabilia, including a particularly noteworthy 1908 music pin awarded for an outstanding performance.

Throughout the afternoon, guests can embark on tours of the school, offering a glimpse into the changes over its 135 years of operation. Sankey recommends visiting key areas such as the Chapel, which serves as a reminder of the school’s Christ-centered mission, and the old upstairs hallway where class photos dating back to 1898 line the walls. “You can see from the class photos during wartime that many of the young men are missing, as they were off serving our country.” Sankey observed. She emphasized that the entire building is a must-see, showcasing a blend of historic architecture and modern additions.

St. John’s Academy extends its sincere gratitude to the Jamestown community for their unwavering support and generous donations throughout the years. These contributions have not only enabled crucial building additions and beautifications, but most importantly have enhanced our mission of Christ-centered academic excellence in Jamestown.
