VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Eight women are now the driving force behind a new business inside the Straus Mall located in downtown Valley City.

The owner of the Straus Mall, the late George Gaukler planned to make an ownership change but following his death that didn’t happen. So the vendors are now paying rent to the Gaukler family.

One of those vendors is Maddie Collins who owns Salty Heifer Soaps talked about the changes made with this business called “The Market at Straus.”

Collins said nearly a dozen vendors are now selling inside “The Market at Straus” and more are welcome to join them inside the Straus Mall. To learn more about this business like them on FaceBook or just google The Market at Straus.

The vendor owners are also hold a back to school supplies drive. Collins said any donations are greatly appreciated now through Saturday, August 2nd.

Anyone interested in dropping off school supplies at The Market at Straus: (inside the Straus Mall on Central Ave) July 30-Aug 2 during business hours which are: Thursdays-4p-8p, Fridays-10a-5p, and Saturdays-10a-2p. Supplies can also be dropped off on Crazy Daze Wednesday, July 30th from 9a-5p.

Some items on the back to school lists include: notebooks, folders, crayons, markers, kleenex, rulers, pens, pencils, and backpacks. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
