
PARK RIVER (NewsDakota)- The 2025 Class B Legion State Tournament continued on Sunday and LaMoure advanced to the semifinals while Linton-Ashley-Wishek had their outstanding 2025 summer come to a close.
ELIMINATION GAME: LAW 7 Renville County 5
The top of the Rattlers order accounted for four hits and five runs scored as Linton-Ashley-Wishek staved off the challenge from the Muskrats. Justin Bosch and Parker Salwei each scored twice and the combination of Cole Nitschke and Salwei pitched LAW into another elimination game.
1ST SEMIFINAL: Thompson 2 LaMoure 1
Run-scoring singles by the eight and nine hole hitters in the fourth inning moved Thompson to Monday’s state championship game. Kaiden Loiland and Dex Avdem scored Drew Odenbach and Johhny Muhs, respectively, with the hits and Brayden Wolfgram tossed a complete game for the win. Owen Lesko scored Blase Isaacson in the first inning for LaMoure’s lone run.
Avdem suffered a cardiac event in the sixth inning after taking a foul ball directly off his chest while playing catcher. He was administered CPR on the field and, at last report, was in stable condition at a local hospital.
ELIMINATION GAME: Park River 5 LAW 1
A four-run fifth inning broke open a 1-0 game and pushed the hosts into a semifinal on Monday. Three consecutive triples highlighted the big inning and Jaxon Omdahl picked up the win on the mound. The Rattlers run came on a Berkeley Frantz solo homer in the sixth, his fourth of the postseason.
LaMoure will play Park River in the second semifinal on Monday with coverage on KDDR The Tornado beginning at 1:20 PM. The winner will need to beat Thompson twice in order to win the state championship, with the first of those at 4:00pm.
