
Valley City, ND — Friday, August 1st marked the 52nd Annual Gaylen Opdahl Golf Tournament at the Valley City Town and Country Club, bringing together 75 golfers to celebrate a cherished tradition rooted in community, competition, and a deep passion for the sport.
The tournament, established in honor of Gaylen Opdahl, continues to embody his lifelong love for golf and his unwavering support of the Valley City Town and Country Club. Year after year, this event not only highlights the talent and camaraderie of its participants, but also serves as a tribute to Opdahl’s enduring legacy and commitment to growing the game in Valley City.
This year’s championship team included Tom Glandt, Matt Klabo, Travis Ingstad, Jared Lentz, and Derrick Rogers, who delivered an impressive performance on the course.
Individual honors included:
- Men’s Long Drive: Derrick Rogers
- Women’s Long Drive: Jackie Tweed
A highlight of the event is the annual Spirit of Golf Award, given to an individual who exemplifies integrity, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm for the game, as well as dedication to the Valley City Town and Country Club. This year’s deserving recipient was Travis Ingstad.
The Gaylen Opdahl Golf Tournament is held annually on the first Friday in August—a tradition that continues to bring golfers together in celebration of the game and the legacy of one of its greatest local champions.
