Shirley Ann (Kronke) Hoff, 87, Valley City, ND passed away at SMP Health-St. Raphael in Valley City, Wednesday, August 6, 2025.  Her funeral service will be held in the St. Raphael Chapel in the care center at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 14, 2025.  She will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Her service will be livestreamed and archived on her tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.  The Lerud Mathias Funeral Home is assisting the Hoff family with arrangements.

Shirley was born August 19, 1937, in Valley City, ND the only child of Ernest and Anna (Gabriel) Kronke. She grew up in Valley City where she attended a one room rural school and graduated from Valley City High School in 1956.  After graduating she moved to Milwaukee, WI where she worked for Briggs and Stratton Corporation.

On February 16, 1958, Shirley was united in marriage with Harold Hoff, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City. In 1958 she became employed by The Sheyenne Care Center. Later she found her passion as a home daycare provider, a career which lasted for 50 years. She became known as the daycare lady who made the best treats.

During her lifetime she enjoyed visiting on the phone with her children, friends and relatives, baking, traveling, animals, and time spent her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and all their family pets. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her survivors are her children: Lee (Tess), Bismarck, Janice (Dave) Berg, Valley City, David (Ronda), Fargo, Mark (Veseda), Fargo, Carol (John) Crandall, Valley City; 11grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Howard Hoff, Billings MT and sister-in-law, Alvera Sturm, Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and infant brother, Harold’s parents and several cousins and in-laws.
