VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been another fantastic summer of Music in the City Park Bandshell!  Special thanks to everyone who joined us on Wednesday evenings. Also, thanks to the many sponsors for your continued support.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025 @ 7:15 pm, local recording artist Greg Hager (greghager.com) will hold a historic concert at the Bandshell in City Park, Valley City, ND. Come early and enjoy free popcorn & water provided by the First Community Credit Union, a generous sponsor for the past years.

Song-writer and accomplished musician, Greg Hager offers original songs with a fresh authentic Western flair, from heartwarming to toe-tapping. Ballad-creator and tall-tale originator, Greg presents a musical program that will tickle the ears and inspire the heart. His music and message ha a true “western styled” country and gospel and is a delight for all members of the family.

A “LIVE” recording of his brand new album will be captured. Of note, this recording will be Hager’s 11th CD release. No other artist in North Dakota history has recorded and released more original albums than Greg Hager. The concert will feature 11 new songs and will be the first public presentation of his new material. The group consists of local musician Erin DeVries from Marion, ND on keyboard along with Nick Holden from Page, ND on steel guitar; Justin Jones, Valley City, on drums; Lead guitar also from Valley City, Drew Deffenbaugh; and on bass, Wesley Gill from Fargo, ND. Recording and production will be handled by Jay Schaefer of Propellant Studios in Fargo, ND.

Hager has been writing songs and playing guitar since he was seven years old. He lives southwest of Valley City next to the Hager homestead where Greg and his wife raised their family. Each week a freewill offering is taken to support the City Park Bandshell and Music in the Park. Due to inclement weather, programs will be moved to VCSU’s Larry J. Robinson Center for the Arts.

Special thanks to the 2025 sponsors who help make Music in the Park possible like First Community Credit Union, Valley City Parks & Recreation, KLJ, Eagles Aerie 2192, KOVC Radio, NewsDakota.com, Moore Engineering, Inc., Valley City Tourism, Grotberg Electric, Dacotah Bank, Valley City Times-Record, and the North Dakota Council on the Arts.
