GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Severe thunderstorms produced tornadoes and strong straight line wind on Friday, August 8th.

The National Weather Service office said four tornadoes were reported in Grand Forks County and straight line wind damage in Stutsman county.

The weather service said a straight line wind of 100 mph from Foxtrot Road to just east of McElroy Park in Jamestown flipped a pontoon, uplifted roofing material of a manufactured home, metal roofing material blown off buildings, along with several large trees being uprooted.

The weather services determined a straight line wind of 100 mph damaged a farmstead 7 miles north of Courtenay early Friday morning. The storm damaged to buildings, grain handling equipment was also severely damaged, including multiple grain bins and a large grain dryer on Friday, August 8th
