Liechty Home Downtown Jamestown 1950’s
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) -Liechty Homes, a name synonymous with quality and community in the modular and manufactured housing industry, is proudly marking its 70th anniversary this year. What began as a humble endeavor by Silas (Si) Liechty in 1955 to simply “get by,” has blossomed into a third-generation enterprise with six thriving locations across the Midwest, standing as a leader in the manufactured home industry.
In the early days, Si handled every aspect of the business himself. His dedication quickly led to significant growth, so much so that by 1959, he faced a unique challenge: a shortage of parking for his homes. This spurred the creation of Holiday Park Village in Jamestown, the company’s first mobile home park. As Holiday Park Village filled, Liechty Homes continued its expansion with Western Park Village, further cementing its roots in Jamestown.
The 1960s saw rapid expansion under Si’s leadership. By 1962, Liechty Homes had established mobile home parks in Bismarck, Devils Lake, and Aberdeen. A connection to his childhood further inspired Si to develop a 250-space park in Florida. The current Jamestown office, a testament to the company’s enduring presence, was built by Si in 1970.
In 1996, Si Liechty retired, passing the torch to his son, Curt Liechty. Curt continued the legacy of expansion, venturing into new territories with locations in Rapid City, South Dakota, and Gillette, Wyoming. His leadership guided the company until 2021, when a new generation stepped up to lead.
Today, Liechty Homes is steered by a dedicated team comprising of Christian and Mariah (Liechty) Cairy, Sam Liechty, Lorne Liechty Jr., Ryan and Andrea Kingsriter, and Darren and Steph Olson. Lorne Jr. serves as the CEO, maintaining monthly visits to all owned locations. The company currently possesses a strong presence with six locations in Rapid City S.D, Minot, N.D, Bismarck N.D, Jamestown N.D, Fergus Falls, MN, and Hermantown, MN.
As Liechty Homes celebrates this significant milestone, the spirit of expansion and opportunity that defined its early years remains. The company continues to actively seek new avenues for growth, reinforcing its commitment to providing quality homes and fostering communities for many years to come.
