
VALLEY CITY, ND (Submitted by Tyler Van Bruggen) On Monday, August 11th, the Hi-Liner Ladies golf team headed to Steel, ND to play at Cottonwood Golf Club in the Kidder County Invite. The Hi-Liners came in 4th as a team, scoring a 489. Edgeley Kulm came in First place with a 396. The Hi-Liners were led by Kylie Van Bruggen’s 105 which was good enough for 7th place individually. Veronica Remick came in 17th followed by Anna McMenamin and Chloee Wieser who tied for 18th. Abby Wilmess played in her first ever Varsity meet and finished 23rd.
The Hi-Liners returned to action again the following day, this time at the Oakes Golf Club, where they pulled out their first team victory of the season. The course proved challenging with large hills and a wide Bear Creek that had to be crossed 4 times throughout the round. Four Hi-Liners placed in the top 10 individually. Kylie Van Bruggen took home 3rd place honors and led the Hi-Liners with a 116. Ashlynn Hartsell placed 6th in her first Varsity action as a Hi-Liner, Anna McMenamin took home 9th place, and Veronica Remick came in 10th. Chloee Wieser and Abby Wilmess also competed for the Hi-Liners.
On Friday, August 15th, the Hi-Liners joined up with the Carrington Cardinals and Griggs-Midkota Titans for a 9 hole JV Triangular meet at the Cooperstown Country Club. Valley City edged out the competition once again, taking home first place shooting a team score of 230. All 6 Hi-Liners placed in the top 10! 7th Grader Keighty Harris scored a 54 taking home first place honors. Ashlynn Hartsell finished 2nd one shot back from the lead. Anna McMenamin came in 4th, Veronica Remick finished 7th, followed by Abby Wilmes at 8th. Alizabeth Nelson took home 10th place.
The Hi-Liners aim to keep their winning streak alive on Thursday, August 21st at Napoleon in a Region 3 Varsity and JV matchup.
