VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – 2025 will go down as one of the stormiest on record in North Dakota. More than 50 tornadoes have been reported cross the state this summer.
With millions of dollars in storm damage, Governor Armstrong issued a disaster declaration request to the Trump Administration earlier this year.
Barnes County Emergency Manager Jessica Jenrich says the state is still waiting for confirmation from the Trump Administration on their disaster declaration request following structure and crop damage from storms.
She says Barnes County residents can get advance warnings from storms through their Everbridge notification system.
Jenrich added that Connect Church on Central Avenue south in Valley City has agreed to be a storm gathering location once a tornado warning has been issued in Barnes County.
