VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After being at two other locations for nearly two decades, the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office is now located in the historic Barnes County Courthouse on the first floor in room 105.

The Barnes County Sheriff’s office will be moving back into the courthouse after being at two other locations for nearly two decades.

Barnes County Commissioner Pete Paulson said it will be nice to have the sheriff and his deputies back in the courthouse to address any security issues. He said the phone number (70-845-8530) is the same and the staff is here to serve you the best they can.

Meanwhile, Paulson said plans to raze the historic old jail north of the courthouse are on hold for now. He said the commission is focusing on getting bids for a new heating system to replace the current one that’s been in place since the 1950’s. He said more details about that will be released later.
