
JAMESTOWN – They trailed at the start of every set. They fought through errors. But they still won.
Jamestown Blue Jays Volleyball swept St. Mary’s in the teams’ WDA opener Tuesday at Jerry Meyer Arena, 25-23, 27-25, 25-18.
St. Mary’s (1-6, 0-1 WDA) led 5-1 and 7-3 in the first set, 7-2 in the second set and 5-1 in the third set. Each time, Jamestown (4-3, 1-0) came back and survived 24 attack errors and nine service errors to win.
Amelia Newman led Jamestown with 11 kills and seven digs. Lucy Falk and Mari Anderson scored seven kills each. Falk also had seven digs and two aces and Mari Anderson added two digs. Claire Marker had six kills, one and a half blocks and two digs. Hannah Attleson set up and scored for the Blue Jays, with 23 set assists, two kills, two aces, three digs and block. Anderson and Haley Attleson also had scoring blocks. Adisyn Yunck served five aces and Jamestown had 11 overall.
Mataya Messer knocked down 10 kills to pace St. Mary’s.
Jamestown will play Saturday at Williston.
