CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- In their home and region opener for the season, Carrington played in front of a loud crowd who were just waiting for a reason to erupt.

And boy, did the Cardinals give it to them.

Harper Kollman led a balanced effort with thirteen kills and the Cardinals swept Hillsboro/Central Valley (25-18, 25-17, 25-22) in their Region 2 opener on Thursday night inside the East Gym.

Carrington (2-0, 1-0) never trailed in the first two sets as they took early 5-0 leads behind Aniston Hoornaert’s service rallies, and while the Burros (0-2, 0-1) would pull within three in each set, they would get no closer.

In the third set, Hillsboro/CV took their only leads, each by a single point (1-0, 3-2) as Carrington pulled away and led 19-13.  But the Burros scored the next six points to tie it before Carrington closed out the match by winning six of the final nine points.

The Cardinals are back in action Tuesday night at Northern Cass with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at 6:45pm.
