MORRIS, MN – A new era for University of Jamestown Athletics officially began Thursday with a dramatic comeback.

Jake Simson scored a hat trick and Greg Semsarian scored the winning goal in the 84th minute as Jimmie Men’s Soccer rallied to defeat Minnesota Morris 4-3 at Cougar Field in UJ’s first regular season event as a member of NCAA Division II.

Bennet Driesch set up Semsarian’s winning goal to give Justin Gilfert a win in his debut as Jimmies’ head coach.

Morris took the lead after only 85 seconds on a goal by Jake Anargyros.  Anargyros assisted on an Aaron Mckall goal in the 26th minute and the Cougars led 2-0.

Jamestown then broke through in the 31st minute on Simson’s first goal, assisted by Felipe Costa.  Simson scored again in the 41st minute, assisted by Jack Greenwood and the match was 2-2 at halftime.

Mackall gave Morris the lead again in the 56th minute before Costa set up Simson again for a 3-3 tie in the 67th minute.

Dawid Chrobot made one save in goal for Jamestown, who outshot Morris 34-10 overall and 16-4 on goal.

UJ will play South Dakota Mines Saturday in Rapid City, South Dakota.
