NASHVILLE, TN – The step up to NCAA Division II for Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Volleyball began with a split on Friday.

Playing in the Ray Thrasher Volleyball Classic at Trevecca Nazarene University, UJ defeated Erskine 25-15, 25-16, 25-16 before losing to Alabama-Huntsville 25-17, 26-24, 25-21 at Trojan Fieldhouse.

Charlotte Lempka led the Jimmies with 11 kills, including four in the first set. She also hit .471 for the match and had a block assist. Ava Mueller had 15 kills, hit .375 and tallied a block assist. Lily Bertsch served five aces, including four in the second set, and also had 22 set assists and a kill. Addison Brooke had five kills and three block assists. Momoka Minamiya led Jamestown (1-0) in digs with 15.

The Jimmies hit .333 for the match, including .438 in the first set and .423 in the second, and made only 10 attack errors.

Alabama-Huntsville def. Jamestown, 25-17, 26-24, 25-21
UAH hit .319 for the match and had just 10 attack errors while Jamestown (1-1) had 17 and was held to a hit percentage of .212.

Caroline Moyer had 14 kills to lead the Chargers.

Corbyn Menz scored 11 kills and a block assist for the Jimmies. Lempka hit six kills and also scored a block assist. Bertsch had 17 set assists, a kill and two aces. Brooke notched six kills and a block assist. Minamiya had 16 digs.

Jamestown will meet Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday.
