NASHVILLE, TN – Jamestown Jimmie Women’s Volleyball ended its first weekend of play for 2025 with a three-set win over host Trevecca Nazarene Saturday 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 in the Ray Thrasher Volleyball Classic at Trojan Fieldhouse.

Ava Mueller paced Jamestown (2-1) with 10 kills and two aces while hitting .500.  She also had two digs.

Corbyn Menz scored seven kills, seven digs and two block assists.  Mya Foslien and Addison Brooke had six kills each.  Foslien also added a block assist and five digs.  Lily Bertsch and Ava Bertsch each recorded 16 set assists.  Momoka Minamiya led UJ in digs with 17.

Jamestown rallied to win the first set, despite hitting just .133 and having seven attack errors.  TNU led 19-13 before the Jimmies scored five points in succession on a Greta Wise kill and four attack errors by the Trojans.  Trevecca Nazarene led 21-19 before a kill by Mueller and an attack error evened the set at 21-21.  TNU led 22-21, then Mueller and Foslien had consecutive kills for UJ’s first lead, followed by an attack error for set point.  The Trojans saved one before another Foslien kill ended the set.

To start the second set, Menz had two kills and Lily Bertsch and Isabella Sherrod served aces to send UJ to a 10-5 lead.  A Lempka kill, Sherrod ace and kills by Mueller and Menz helped Jamestown lead 15-8.  The Trojans were no closer than four points for the rest of the set as Jamestown hit .333.

In the third set, UJ hit .406 and had 13 kills, needing them all as the set was most competitive.  Jamestown led 13-10 before TNU scored four straight.  Neither team led by more than two for a while and the Trojans took a 22-21 lead on a kill by Mackenzie Martin.  But Jamestown then stormed back and scored four straight to win the match.  A Greta Wise kill was followed by two attack errors, then Mueller killed to close out the sweep.

Jamestown will next play at the Mountain Lion Classic next weekend at UC-Colorado Springs.  The Jimmies’ first match will be on Friday against Western Colorado.
