VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Valley City has opened up with a pair of quality volleyball wins, following up their victory at Kindred with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-15) sweep of Central Cass Thursday night.

The first two sets had moments of tight scoring, but the Hi-Liners pulled away with strong finishes in the first and second, before dominating the third early to secure the win.

Kadie Kocka followed up her record-setting 35 kill performance against the Vikings with a 19-kill night against the Squirrels, a game-high.

Katie Burchill strengthened as the night progressed, finishing with seven kills and three blocks, including a block late to being sealing the match.

Valley City will host Wahpeton Tuesday at the Hi-Liner Activity Center
