
VALLEY CITY, N.D. — The Valley City Hi-Liners volleyball team rolled to an impressive win Tuesday, sweeping Wahpeton in straight sets (25-8, 25-11, 25-10) to improve to 7-1 on the season.
The opening set was close early, with Valley City holding a slim 6-5 lead. From there, the Hi-Liners took control behind the serving of Morgan Larson, who sparked a 10-0 run to make it 24-7. Skye Nielson closed out the set with a fallaway kill.
In the second set, Wahpeton trimmed the deficit to 10-7, but the Hi-Liners pulled away again. Nielson and Larson combined to fuel a 14-4 run before Kadie Kocka sealed the 25-11 win with a kill.
The third set followed a similar script. Valley City led just 6-5 early before dominating the middle and late stages with a 15-2 run behind strong service from Nielson. Nora Pederson finished off the sweep with a kill from her middle blocker spot to secure Valley City’s seventh win of the year.
The Hi-Liners (7-1) will host Northern Cass on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7:15 p.m. The match will be broadcast on 1490 AM/96.3 FM KOVC, streamed online at NewsDakota.com and on the KOVC Live YouTube channel.
