ROLLA (NewsDakota)- It was nothing like the previous sixteen games, but number one kept rolling on Friday night.
Easton Simon accounted for 354 yards and five touchdowns offensively and added an interception, Thomas Allmaras returned a kick 71 yards for a touchdown and New Rockford-Sheyenne/Maddock came back to defeat North Prairie 62-36 on Friday night. The game marked the first without a second half running clock for the Rockets since the 2023 semifinal loss to South Border.
The first quarter was tic-for-tac with the Cougars taking an 8-6 lead before Allmaras’ kick return gave the Rockets the lead. North Prairie (3-2, 3-2) would score again and actually led 16-12 before Easton Simon hit Koy Zieman with the second of his three touchdown passes for an 18-16 lead that the Rockets (5-0, 5-0) would never relinquish.
The Rockets scored the final sixteen points in the fourth quarter after the Cougars closed to 46-36 on Simon’s third touchdown pass and a fumble return.
The Rockets are back in action on Friday at Midway/Minto (1-4, 1-4).
