WICHITA, KS – Newman University Men’s Soccer raced to a 3-0 first half lead Monday and defeated the Jamestown Jimmies 4-1 at Wilkins Field.

The Jets (3-1-2) broke into the lead on a goal by Cameron Schroder in the 21st minute, then Gabriel Dias Juliani scored in the 28th minute.  Tomas Melon scored three and a half minutes before half and Newman led 3-0 at the break.

Gio Orozco scored in the 81st minute for Newman, but the Jimmies (1-5-0) broke the shutout on the first collegiate goal by Freddie Tomkinson in the 89th minute.

Newman had 22 shots to Jamestown’s seven.  The Jets had 10 shots on goal and the Jimmies had only one.

Jamestown will try to break its five-match losing streak Saturday against Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa.
