VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In 2023, a few groups in our community came together to create a trick-or-treating event at Valley City High School. Over 500 people attended and saw it as a great event that could possibly be done again in the future.
Last year, our student council hosted a highly successful “Haunted School” event—virtually, a haunted house within our high school building. This year, we are expanding on the Haunted School and would love to involve the community. Our vision is to combine both the indoor trick-or-treating event and Haunted School to create a fun time for all age groups. We would love to have your help in making this a memorable Halloween occasion for the families of Valley City on Saturday, October 25th from 6-9pm and Sunday, October 26th from 5-7pm. (We ask that you please participate on both days.)
The event will be divided into two sections:
1. the “haunted school” part, which will be a scarier route throughout the building, similar to last year, and
2. the new portion, which will take place in the Junior High Locker Area and South Gym. This is where we need your help!
We are asking for groups and/or businesses to set up tables/activities in the Junior High Locker and South Gym areas, geared at younger Pre-K and elementary ages. This will be a relaxed, open area for kids to enjoy Halloween themed games, candy, crafts, and other activities—similar to the “Ruckus at the Rec” event previously hosted here in Valley City. Decorate your space with festivities, games, treats or anything else you would like, to make your group unforgettable!
By joining us in this year’s Haunted School, you are showing your support to Valley City as this event is all about building up our local school and community. Your participation will help raise funds for future student council events, support student services and programs, as well as providing an opportunity to highlight your group or business.
You are welcome and invited to hand out coupons, business cards, or offer giveaways that encourage attendees to visit your location or website after the event. It could be an awesome way to turn Halloween excitement into year-round customers. We hope you will consider joining us in making this year’s Haunted School event fun for all.
