JAMESTOWN – After having their first 10 matches of the season on the road, Jamestown Jimmies women’s volleyball was very happy to play at home. While play was good, it wasn’t enough to defeat another nationally-ranked NSIC opponent.
15th-ranked St. Cloud St. swept UJ Friday at Harold Newman Arena, 25-21, 25-23, 25-23.
Ella Thompson was stout for the Huskies (9-3, 4-0 NSIC) with 15 kills (.565), two block assists and a set assist. Emery Thury had six kills, six digs, a solo block and a block assist.
Corbyn Menz led for the Jimmies (5-6, 0-4 NSIC) with nine kills (.261), nine digs and two block assists. Greta Wise and Charlotte Lempka each notched seven kills. Lily Bertsch had 15 set assists and served three aces.
St. Cloud State had 47 kills (.327) to Jamestown’s 39 (.152) and seven blocks to the Jimmies’ two.
Jamestown will host Minnesota State at Harold Newman Arena Saturday at 2:00 PM.
