
JAMESTOWN – That’s how you want to open the home schedule.
Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division I Men’s Hockey had two goals and an assist from Marcus Fritel Thursday in a home-opening 6-1 win over Colorado at Wilson Arena.
Fritel scored the first goal of the season on the power play at 8:37 of period one, after which UJ led 1-0 and had a 26-5 shot advantage.
Tyler Lindal scored 6:03 into the second and the Jimmies led 2-0 after 40 minutes.
A shorthanded goal by CU’s Douglas Wood at 3:40 of the third cut the Jamestown lead to 2-1, but starting with a James Hooten goal at 11:15, the Jimmies (2-0-1) scored four goals in 3:33. Matthew McIntyre lit the lamp at 12:32, Fritel scored his second at 13:26 and Jordan Baranesky closed the night’s scoring at 14:48.
Brandon Weare had to make just 13 stops in net as the Jimmies outshot Colorado 64-14.
UJ will host Midland Friday evening at 7:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
