BISMARCK, N.D. (VCSU) – Valley City State University freshman Gretchen Deaver delivered a standout performance for VCSU Shooting Sports at the North Dakota Fall Collegiate Championships.

Deaver earned the High Score Female award with an impressive total of 185/200, sweeping the female division by taking first place in all three disciplines. She posted a 96/100 in singles, followed by 46/50 in handicap and 43/50 in doubles, securing her spot as the top female shooter at the event.

The championship, hosted Sept. 20 by Bismarck State College at the Capital City Gun Club, marked the first in-person tournament of the season for the VCSU Shooting Sports Team. The team began competing in the USA College Clay Target League earlier this month and showed strong depth across the board in Bismarck.

In addition to Deaver’s success, Andy Nelson and Jake Hennings both placed in the Top 10 for doubles trap, contributing to a solid team showing in a competitive field.

VCSU Shooting Sports will return to competition Oct. 11 in Fargo, continuing its second season with momentum and confidence.
