VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Saturday, October 4th is B-Day (Bazaar Day) at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. Starting at 11:00 am with opportunities to take care of some of your gift giving and baking needs. You can enjoy a soup and sandwich luncheon with Kim Owen’s crew offering homemade vegetable soup and Zuppa Toscana soups, sandwich and a choice of apple, pumpkin or chocolate dessert.
Started in the 80’s the women with help from the entire church have put on this event to raise money to support local missions. It started modestly with a bake sale and luncheon. Over the years gift baskets (some years over 300) and boutique items, interior decorating and retro Christmas has been added. Most popular items annually have been lefsa and pies in the bake sale, kitchen dishcloths and Amy Noeske’s sewing creations.
Over one hundred thousand dollars have been raised over the years. Local missions that have benefited include the food pantries including the Barnes County Food Pantry, Hi-Liner and VCSU pantry. Abused Person Outreach Center (APOC), the Salvation Army are other recipients of local mission dollars. The United Women of Faith also support their neighbor, Washington School, supplying supplies and treats for students and teachers. Providing for women and children in need is the priority for our mission.
Spokeswoman Mary Lee Nielson said we are ready to serve you to help others on Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 am at Epworth United Methodist Church across from the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse know as the Bubble in Valley City.
