MANDAN – Improvement means another chance to play for Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Tennis.

Jamestown earned a berth in next week’s state dual tournament by qualifying on Thursday in the West Region dual tournament.

After losing 4-1 to Minot in the quarterfinal round, the Jays (7-10) edged Williston 3-2 in a loser out dual and won 3-2 over Minot North in the state qualifier.

Aden Oettle and Josh Sagaser held off Peyton Opp and Mason Knittel of Minot North 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in the deciding number two doubles match of that dual.  Luke LeFevre and Braxton Burkett won two singles matches each on Thursday.

Jamestown will play West Fargo Sheyenne on Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the state dual tournament in Grand Forks.

First, the West Region individual singles and doubles tournaments will be held Friday and Saturday in Mandan.
