MANDAN – Jamestown Blue Jays Luke LeFevre and Braxton Burkett, the second-seeded team, won in three sets Saturday to capture the West Region Boys Tennis championship.

After taking two matches on Friday, LeFevre and Burkett first won a semifinal match on Saturday 6-4, 6-1 over Williston’s Kallon DeLorme and Kane Shannon.  The JHS pair then topped Minot’s Oliver Moore and Oliver Thompson 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 to capture the championship.

Aden Oettle advanced to a state qualifier match in boys singles, but lost in straight sets to Brayden Callahan of Minot North.

LeFevre and Burkett will compete in the individual doubles state tournament next Friday and Saturday in Grand Forks.  On Thursday, the Blue Jays will compete in the dual state tournament.
