CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- Sandwiched between two busy tournament weekends, the Cardinal volleyball team looked for a quick win to get off their feet as quickly as possible on Tuesday night.
And they found it.
Marah Johnson had fifteen of Carrington’s 41 kills and the Cards swept Bottineau (25-11, 25-11, 25-17) in 62 minutes on Military Appreciation Night inside the East Gym.
It started immediately as Carrington (19-3), who are ranked third in the newest media polls, scored a 6-0 run on Lauren Hendrickson’s serve for a 9-3 lead in the first set and it would get no closer. Much the same in the second set, as the Stars (5-12) struggled with Carrington’s serve, which produced eleven aces on the night. Bottineau scored five of the first seven points of the third set before an 11-1 run for the Cards ended any hope for a comeback.
Carrington host their invite on Saturday with Pool C play beginning at 8am. The Cards will face Lisbon, Shiloh Christian, and Dickinson Trinity in pool play and all Cardinal matches Saturday can be viewed on KDAK The Cardinal on YouTube.
