JAMESTOWN – As October began, a third straight state tournament berth for Jamestown Blue Jays Boys Soccer wasn’t very likely.

Now, it will happen.

Miles Anderson scored in the 38th minute Saturday, then Jamestown held on for a 1-0 over Minot North at Rotary Field, sending the Blue Jays to next week’s state tournament.

Peace Tukumunde set up Anderson’s winner and Ethan Harty made six saves in goal for his sixth shutout of the season.

The goal is Anderson’s fifth this season, second on the team to Tukumunde’s six.

Jamestown (7-8-2, 7-8-1 WDA) finished tied for fourth i the standings with Minot North, but earned the state tournament berth on a tiebreaker.

The Blue Jays will meet EDC top seed Fargo South on Thursday at 4:30 PM in a quarterfinal match at the Starion Sports Complex in Mandan.
