
JAMESTOWN – Efficient attacking is vital for winning volleyball, and the Jamestown Jimmies had it a lot of the way on Thursday.
Jamestown came from a set down to earn a third win in the NSIC over Minot St. in four sets, 21-25, 25-12, 25-16, 25-18 at Harold Newman Arena.
Ava Mueller led the attack for the Jimmies (8-9, 3-7 NSIC) with 12 kills. Addison Brooke had 11 and showed that efficiency, hitting .625 and having just one error in 16 attacks. Mya Foslien had nine kills, three block assists and five digs. Caroline Puetz and Kyleigh Schopp each registered eight kills. Schopp had five block assists while Puetz had three block assists. Ava Bertsch had 24 set assists and three aces. Momo Minamiya had 21 digs.
Minot St. (3-16, 1-9) had a little more efficiency in the first set, hitting .364. UJ had late errors to help the Beavers to the win.
But Jamestown was remarkably effective with their attack in the second set, having 17 kills and hitting .459 with, amazingly, no attack errors.
Jamestown led 7-3 in the third set, then a Corbyn Menz kill and a Brooke solo block extended the lead.
UJ led 14-1 to start the third set and forced 13 attack errors by the Beavers.
