O’FALLON, IL – Jamestown Jimmies ACHA D1 Men’s Hockey scored three goals in the first period Friday and were never headed in a 5-2 win over McKendree University at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.

Carter Johnson and Raymond Warrack each had a goal and an assist for Jamestown (6-1-0-0).

Warrack set up Johnson for the game’s first goal at 2:31 of the first period, then Marcus Fritel gave UJ a 2-0 lead at 16:03, assisted by Kole Christensson and Jordan Baranesky.

Sawyer Lownsdale brought McKendree to within a goal at 17:31, but James Hooton answered for UJ with 90 seconds left in the first period, with Baranesky and Alek Erichuk assisting.

A power play goal by McKendree’s Tanner Bettis cut the Jimmie lead to 3-2 at 16:26 of the second period.

The Jimmies then scored twice in the third period.  Brad Fortin, assisted by Carson Brown and Malachi Franklin, gave Jamestown a 4-2 lead at 5:49.  Warrack then scored with 7:29 left, set up by Johnson and Griffin Bourassa.

Jamestown outshot McKendree 49-23.  The Jimmies were o-for-4 on the power play and McKendree was 1-for-5.

Brandon Weare made 21 saves for Jamestown.

UJ will play again at McKendree on Saturday.
