
BISMARCK – While Jamestown Blue Jay volleyball attacked, Bismarck had the answers and stopped a good Blue Jay streak.
Bismarck High used great defending and blocking to defeat Jamestown Thursday 25-17, 25-23, 25-15 at Kaarlgard Gym.
Jensen Hintz had 12 kills and Jordyn Rood notched 11 with two and a half blocks for the Demons (17-11, 10-5 WDA), who moved into a third-place tie with Jamestown in the conference standings. Ava Mischel had 21 digs, helped by 16 from Taylor Mayer and eight by Bryar Jahner. Bismarck also had eight total blocks, many well-timed to stop Jamestown kill attempts.
Lucy Falk, Mari Anderson and Claire Marker each had eight kills for Jamestown (16-11, 10-5), whose five-match conference winning streak ended.
Bismarck broke open a close first set with eight straight points, led by three kills from Rood, for a 24-14 lead.
Twice Jamestown had eight-point leads in the second set, but Bismarck scored 12 of the last 18 points to rally.
The Blue Jays were down 14-12 in the third before another big run by Bismarck put the match away, as the Demons scored 11 of the last 14 points. Rood contributed again with two kills and two blocks.
