Clinton Stowman, age 97, of Valley City, N.D., passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Sanford Health in Fargo.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Clinton Perry Stowman was born on September 28, 1928, in Dazey, N.D., the son of Perry and Gladys Stowman. He graduated from Tower City High School in 1946 and entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1950 to 1952, with most of his service spent in Germany.

In 1954, Clinton married Laura Price in Fingal, N.D. The couple shared 71 years of marriage. After returning from military service, Clinton attended Dakota Business College in Fargo through the G.I. Bill. Upon graduation, he worked at a bank in Sheyenne, N.D., for nearly two years before beginning his farming career in Weimer Township in 1957. He farmed until his retirement in 1990, after which he and Laura moved to Valley City in 1992.

Clinton was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a longtime member of the Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Laura; children Patrick (Meridee) Stowman, Donna (Buzz) Byzewski, Kathy (Darrell) Berglund, Mark (Shirley) Stowman, and Bill (Angie) Stowman; ten grandchildren: Jessi (Matt) Stockford, Perry (Amanda) Stowman, Andy (Pam) Byzewski, Sara Berglund, Jordan (Kayla) Berglund, Michael (Jess) Stowman, Matthew Stowman, Arin Stowman, William Stowman, and Alex Stowman; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Abby Byzewski, Reed Hill, Sam Hill, Oliveah Logue, Allegra Stowman, Cashton Stowman, Theodore Stowman, Graham Berglund, Charlie Berglund, Kamryn Berglund, Emma Stowman, Hailey Stowman, Claire Stowman, and Khloie Yokum.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Gladys Stowman; his brother, Donald Stowman; and his son, Keith Stowman.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lerud Mathias Funeral Home, Valley City.
