BEMIDJI, MN – When Bemidji State started 0-5, most thought the Beavers were a better team than that.  Now, the Jamestown Jimmies would certainly agree.

Bemidji State scored on their first four possessions Saturday on their way to a 47-25 win over Jamestown at Chet Anderson Stadium in the schools’ first meeting in football since 1956.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Bart McAnich passed for four touchdowns, three to Jake Hill in the first half, as the Beavers (3-5, 2-5 NSIC) jumped out to a 27-0 lead early in the second quarter.  McAnich was 20-of-23 for 216 yards.  Hill caught four passes for 57 yards.  Antonio Brown rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Cole Hentges passed for touchdowns to Colton Schumacher and Nate Burke for the Jimmies (1-6, 1-6) and was 13-of-27 for 185 yards with an interception.  Zach Hammett had his third touchdown rushing in the last two games.

Drayton Lehman returned the opening kick off 72 yards to set the Beavers up at the Jamestown 23.  A four-play drive ended with McAnich’s first touchdown pass to Hill from 17 yards.

After a Jamestown punt, the Beavers drove 61 yards, ending with a 15-yard scoring pass from McAnich to Hill.  Bemidji State led 13-0 after one quarter.

Brown rushed for two yards and a score and a 20-0 lead for the Beavers with 12:14 left in the first half.

The Jimmies went three-and-out, then Bemdji State drove 72 yards in just four plays, ending with McAnich finding Hill for a 22-yard scoring pass and a 27-0 Beaver lead.

Jamestown had their first extended drive on their next possession, which included a 33-yard pass from Hentges to Gage Solano.  Aanon Peterson kicked a 27-yard field goal and Jamestown was down just 27-3.

Ryan Beams recovered a muff on the ensuing kickoff and the Jimmies went 32 yards for their first touchdown, an eight-yard run by Zach Hammett.  UJ was down just 27-10 at halftime.

But in the third quarter, Bemidji State built the lead back up.  Isaiah Tisdale rushed for an 18-yard score and McAnich threw a 25-yard score to Lehman and BSU led 41-10 through three quarters.

Hentges found Schumacher for a 15-yard touchdown strike with 13:24 left and a Gage Solano two-point run cut the Bemidji State lead to 41-18.

Hentges’ 19-yard scoring pass to Burke with 46 seconds to go gave the Jimmies their last points, but Bemdji State scored again on a Zach Romak 25-yard run with one second left.

Trayten Johnson blocked an extra point for the Jimmies.  Zach Mueller and Josh Bosacker each recorded seven tackles.

Jamestown will host Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, October 25 at Rollie Greeno Field at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium.  Coverage will begin at 12:30 PM on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
