VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPR) – The Valley City Parks and Recreation Foundation is now collecting gently used and new
snow gear, sleds, shoes, and sports equipment through November 20 as part of its Play It Forward campaign.
The idea behind “Play It Forward” is simple — to give your old gear a new game. By donating what you no longer use, you’re helping others in our community stay active, warm, and involved this winter.
All donated items will be featured at the “Play It Forward” Open House on Saturday, November 22, at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center, where community members can browse and “pay what you can.” Every dollar raised from this event will go to support the VCPR Foundation Scholarship Program, which helps make recreation accessible for all in the Valley City community. Donation items can be dropped off in the blue barrel located in the Gaukler Family Wellness Center lobby.
Looking ahead, the VCPR Foundation plans to host another “Play It Forward” event in the spring around the time of spring clean-up, just before the busy summer season. Community members are encouraged to keep the program in mind while cleaning out closets, garages, and sheds throughout the year.
The Foundation accepts donations for Play It Forward year-round and appreciates the continued generosity of those who help keep recreation within reach for all.
