VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – During October’s Safety month, The Barnes County Sheriff’s Department and Deputy Gunnar graciously agreed to have chamber staff member Shelby go on a ride along. While Shelby was with Gunnar they made a few traffic stops and also got into a foot pursuit. While out patrolling she learned that The Sheriff’s Department works closely with the North Dakota Highway Patrol and patrols the whole county area this includes the gravel roads.
Recently, the Valley City Police Department also allowed Shelby to go on a ride along. During her time with the police department she was able to go on traffic stops and watch a simulated foot pursuit with chamber intern Sarah. During Shelby’s ride along she learned that it’s always best to be honest and respectful when pulled over, lying only makes the outcome of the citation worse.
The Valley City Chamber thanked the men and women in blue for keeping our community safe all year but especially in the month of October.
