Napoleon, ND (Newsdakota.com) – The District 2 Volleyball Tournament wrapped up play on Tuesday November 4th at Napoleon High School with the Region Tourney Qualifiers and the District 2 Championship. You can catch all of the action on KDDR The Tornado and Thunder 98.3.

Region Qualifier 1 – #3 (RV) EKM 3-0 #8 Napoleon/GS (25-12, 25-20, 25-8) 

The Rebels punched their ticket to the Region 1 Tourney in Jamestown with a dominant weep of the Imperials. The match started with a little back and forth with 4 ties going till 6-6 when EKM would take the lead for good jumping to a 14-7 lead the Imperials would make it close again at 15-12 but a 10 point run would put a stop to that giving EKM the 25-12 victory. Set 2 saw 9 ties and 4 lead changes with the Imperials leading by as many as 4. The match would be tied as late as 19-19 when EKM would once again pull away to win 25-20. Set 3 was nothing but EKM dominance jumping to a 10-1 lead and never looking back. They’d take it 25-8.

The player of the game was Elli Lloyd who picked up her 1000th career dig.

The Imperials season comes to a close with a 10-25 record. The Rebels will enter the Region 1 Tournament as the 3 seed from D2 and take on Wyndmere-Lidgerwood on Monday.

Region Qualifier 2 – #5 Ellendale 1-3 #6 Kidder County (20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-16)

The Kidder County Wolves punched their 3rd straight ticket to the Region 1 Tourney. The match started with a back and forth set 1 with nerither team able to put the other away. Set 1 featured 10 ties and 4 lead changes with the latest tie at 19-19 before Ellendale put the set away with a 6-1 run taking it 25-20. Set 2 was a tale of 2 halves as Ellendale quickly jumped out to a 11-3 lead. The Wolves however would go on a 17-2 run and end up winning the set 25-19. Set 3 once again saw Ellendale lead the Wolves early leading all the way till 15-15 with 9 ties in the set with the last tie at 17-17. Kidder County would pull away after that however and take the set 25-22. Set 4 was Wolves dominance as they made it 11-3 early and didn’t look back taking the set and the match 25-16.

The player of the match was Breanah Pfaff.

The Cardinals season comes to a close with a 18-13 record. The Kidder County Wolves will go to the Region 1 Tournament as the 4 seed from D2 and take on District 1 Champs Hankinson on Monday.

Championship – #1 (1) Linton-HMB vs #2 (RV) MPB – 25 mins after RQ2 

The Linton-HMB Lions took home their 7th straight district title in a 5 set classic. Set 1 saw some back and forth play with 5 ties and even 2 lead changes with a tie at 19-19 but the Lions would lock in late to take the set 25-20. MPB was able to control set 2 for most of the way despite 9 ties and 6 lead changes as they would win on an 8 point run winning 25-19. The Lions would dominate in set 3 however as after trailing 12-11 they would go on a 10-1 run to make it 21-13 and win it 25-18. The Thunder would dominate in set 4 however as after Linton battled it to 11-10 then MPB went on a 14-4 run to win the set 25-14. Set 5 started with MPB getting a 6-3 lead before the Lions battled to tie at 7-7 they would trade the lead back and forth till Linton took it for good at 10-9 and went on to win the match 15-12.

The player of the match was Makiah Ryckman.

The Thunder will play in the Region 1 Tourney as the #2 seed from D2 against Richland on Monday while the Lions will be the #1 Seed from D2 and will play Maple River.
