JAMESTOWN – Though they were swept, Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Volleyball didn’t play badly Friday.  Sioux Falls played remarkably well.

The Cougars had 53 kills in a sweep of the Jimmies 25-22, 25-13, 25-14 at Harold Newman Arena.

Sioux Falls (16-9, 11-6 NSIC) hit .447, including .571 in the second set, in moving to within one match win of clinching an NSIC Tournament berth.  Abby Haus and Sadie Voss each had 12 kills.  Tatum Godinez had nine.  Courtney Holsteen had eight kills and four aces.

Addison Brooke and Kyleigh Schopp had seven kills each for the Jimmies (9-15, 4-13), who lost their sixth straight match, all in sweeps.  Ava Mueller had six kills.

Jamestown played an excellent first set, with 15 kills, but Sioux Falls had 19.  UJ was down just 20-19 before Godinez, Wolf and Haus had kills in a 4-1 run.

The Cougars again had 19 kills in taking a 9-3 lead in the second set.

In set three, Sioux Falls had 15 kills while the Jimmies had nine.

Sioux Falls also had seven scoring blocks to Jamestown’s three.

The Jimmies will play their final home match of the season against Southwest Minnesota State Saturday at noon at Harold Newman Arena.
