
James “Jim” Harley Gordon was born February 17, 1956. He graduated from Valley City High School in 1974 and married Bonnie (Hoff) Gordon on August 26, 1978. Together they raised two sons, Austin (Nicole) Gordon and Anthony (Katie) Gordon.
Jim worked as a carpenter and proudly served in the ND Army National Guard for 20 years, including a deployment to Iraq from 2003 to 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Verletta Gordon; his in-laws, Herb and Gertrude Hoff; and his brother, Ken Gordon.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie; his children; and his grandchildren, MaKayla, Lexxy, Seth, Christian, and Allie. He is also survived by his sisters, Deb (Paul) Kleven, Linda (Rodney) Latt, Cammy (Brian) Busta, Melanie (Mark) Ferguson, DeeAnn (Dave) Johnson, Genise (Dave) Solseng; sisters-in-law, Doreen Gordon and Julie (Jerry) Yokom; bonus family, Greg (Rose) Greb; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim will be remembered with love by all who knew him. He passed away November 13, 2025 at the age of 69. A memorial service and military honors for Jim will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel, Valley City, with visitation the hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in the Fargo National Cemetery. The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.
