
VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Four Vikings scored in double figures, with the team shooting 57% from the field in an 88-84 win over Dakota Wesleyan at Mitchell, SD Wednesday night.
Freshman Joel Nelson led the Vikings with 16 points, hitting the go-ahead basket in the final two minutes, then sealing the game with a pair of foul shots with 2.2 seconds remaining in the contest.
J. R. Cison and Kaleb Larson each added 12 points, with Nez Chehade scored 11 and grabbed eight rebounds. The Vikings dominated inside, scoring 46 of their points in the paint, compared to just 24 for Dakota Wesleyan. Wesleyan took 30 three-point shots, the Vikings just 16.
Valley City State is now 4-0, and will face Mayville State Tuesday night at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse.
