MINOT – Third-ranked Minot State allowed the 10th-ranked Jamestown Jimmies the first goal, but came back in the third period for a 3-1 victory Friday at Maysa Arena.

Matthew Yakubowski scored for Minot State (11-1-1-0) with 11:42 left in the third period to break a 1-1 tie.  Jay Buchholz wrapped up the game for the Beavers by scoring with 1:38 to go.

Tanner McCracken scored first for Jamestown (10-7-1-0), his sixth, assisted by Guerin Apperley, at 17:37 of the first period.

A power play goal for Sheldin Howard tied the game for Minot State at 7:14 of the middle frame.

Brandon Weare stopped 30 shots in the Jamestown net.  Minot State outshot the Jimmies 33-27.  Jamestown was o-for-3 on the power play and Minot State was 1-for-5.

The Jimmies and Beavers will meet again Saturday night in Minot.
